Friendship Village Sunset Hills residents got a chance to make their mark on history when two six-foot steel beams were displayed to be signed at the Village Care Center! The two beams will be placed among the new construction expansion projects at Friendship Village to be a part of continuing to build the future of senior living! Thanks for contributing, everyone!

Our Ballroom at Friendship Village Sunset Hills was PACKED with nearly a hundred folks to learn the benefits of our Life Care program (including the tax benefits) and were treated to a complimentary brunch. Our President and CEO Terry Walsh as well as Senior Living Sales Director Matt Beckham informed everyone about Life Care and other aspects of senior living at Friendship Village. Friendship Village Chesterfield residents have a fun new community project they are working on and we’re calling it “Puppets with a Purpose”! Under the guidance of Aristocrafts Coordinator Patty Aufricht, the residents in her class are observing Sesame Street’s 50th Anniversary by working jointly with teacher Denise Cox and her students at North Side School in St Louis. The new project has residents busily sewing Sesame Street hand puppets which will be used in the classroom for various learning projects. We’re so proud of the wonderful employees we honored at our Annual Employee Awards Ceremony! We were so excited to give a sneak peek for our residents February 3rd at our new Memory Care Neighborhood at Friendship Village Sunset Hills Assisted Living & Memory Care! This first look showcased the new dining areas, common areas, new Assisted Living apartments, grounds and more! The new addition is slated to open with new residents moving in some time March 2020 (pending a few remaining inspections) and we’re thrilled to have our new friends make their home with us! We recently had our second meeting of our Intergenerational Program and had a wonderful time bringing young students (ages 4-5) and seniors together for a day of learning basic math, writing skills, spelling, learning values and much more. The program fosters interaction and socialization between the generations, which improves the quality of life for both groups! The children then performed a song for the residents and everybody shared a snack at the end of the day. Two of Friendship Village’s Resident Leaders, Mary Mungenast (Chesterfield) and Bob Swearingen (Sunset Hills), were invited by Missouri State Representatives to participate in a Legislative Committee Hearing on Thursday in the State Capitol regarding the modernization of an old law pertaining to finances for Life Care Type “A” communities in the State.
