First New Resident Moves Into Brand-new Rockhurst Building at Friendship Village Chesterfield!

The brand-new Rockhurst Building at Friendship Village Chesterfield had its first new resident Phyllis move into her new apartment Tuesday and we couldn’t be more thrilled! The Rockhurst Building has 52 new Independent Living apartments and we have residents moving in now and through April! And as our expansion construction continues in Chesterfield and at our Sunset Hills community, we look forward to many more move-ins to expand our community and make new friends! The FVC Drama Group presented the play An Evening With Your Neighbors to a packed house at the Trillium Theater at Friendship Village Chesterfield! With twelve residents as actors, our talented thespians did a wonderful job for the crowd of over eighty residents. Great job, everyone!

WWII War Veteran Tony Snyder of Friendship Village Sunset Hills Given France’s Highest Honor!

We were thrilled to be present as our own Friendship Village Sunset Hills’ resident Tony Snyder, 95, was awarded the French Legion of Honor medal Tuesday by Guillaume Lacroix, the French Consul General! The honor carries with it the distinction of Knighthood and is given on behalf of the President of France. Tony was being recognized for his service during World War II as a U.S. Army Sergeant in the 14th Armored Division (“The Liberators”) who helped liberate France to win WWII. Steel Beams Get Signed to Become Part of Friendship Village History!

Friendship Village Sunset Hills residents got a chance to make their mark on history when two six-foot steel beams were displayed to be signed at the Village Care Center! Our Ballroom at Friendship Village Sunset Hills was PACKED with nearly a hundred folks to learn the benefits of our Life Care program (including the tax benefits) and were treated to a complimentary brunch. Friendship Village residents are creating “Puppets with a Purpose”!

Friendship Village Chesterfield residents have a fun new community project they are working on and we’re calling it “Puppets with a Purpose”!   Under the guidance of Aristocrafts Coordinator Patty Aufricht, the residents in her class are observing Sesame Street’s 50th Anniversary by working jointly with teacher Denise Cox and her students at North Side School in St Louis.   The new project has residents busily sewing Sesame Street hand puppets which will be used in the classroom for various learning projects.
