Friendship Village Chesterfield residents have a fun new community project they are working on and we’re calling it “Puppets with a Purpose”!
Under the guidance of Aristocrafts Coordinator Patty Aufricht, the residents in her class are observing Sesame Street’s 50th Anniversary by working jointly with teacher Denise Cox and her students at North Side School in St Louis.
The new project has residents busily sewing Sesame Street hand puppets which will be used in the classroom for various learning projects. In addition to the hand-made puppets, Friendship Village residents working in their new wood shop (and are known as “The Wood Chucks”) are also working with the Aristocrafts to design and construct a new puppet theater for North Side School students!
A puppet show will be performed by the students in the near future for our Friendship Village residents. Jenifer Russell, Director of Community Life Services, is overseeing the project and coordinating with North Side School.
We can’t wait to see the puppets in action and thanks so much to everyone who is participating!
