Question: Where did you sing and what has that meant to you? Answer: “I started singing when I was 12, although I didn’t perform solos until I was in college. I sang with several audition-only groups including the St. Louis Symphony Chorus, the St. Louis Chamber Chorus, and spent 17 years in the American Kantorei, which is a Lutheran group of 32 singers. We were thrilled to be present as our own Friendship Village Sunset Hills’ resident Tony Snyder, 95, was awarded the French Legion of Honor medal Tuesday by Guillaume Lacroix, the French Consul General! The honor carries with it the distinction of Knighthood and is given on behalf of the President of France. Tony was being recognized for his service during World War II as a U.S. Army Sergeant in the 14th Armored Division (“The Liberators”) who helped liberate France to win WWII. Question: What is your favorite junk food? Answer: “I really like ice cream. Ice cream and cake. I love that. I’ve got a sweet tooth. But I had just one cookie today. I’m trying to be good. Question: In what ways have you grown and changed since moving from your house? Answer: “Before I came here, I had other interests such as gardening and keeping bird feeders. But when I moved out here my interests grew and changed. It’s like opening a whole new world. Question: What character trait do you think is most important to have? Answer: “Integrity. It covers a wide range of things. It covers honesty. It covers everything. It’s like an umbrella.
