Question: What’s something you did when you were younger that’s stuck with you through the years? Answer: “Writing. It’s a way to communicate with other generations and I think it’s important to share and teach what I know, as well as what I don’t. Now it’s become more connected to family history. I’ve been scrapbooking to make the family history come alive too, so it won’t be boring. I have 11 grandchildren and fortunately most of them are very interested and always nag me, “Grandma, you haven’t written anything about […]

Question: If you could do one thing this week, what would it be? Answer: “One thing this week? I’d like to go to Florida. I’d go fishing, sit around and have my Manhattan in the evening by the pool. We used to own a home in Florida and we went every winter. But my wife decided we should sell that property and we have a very democratic marriage. We vote on everything and she gets two votes and I forgot to vote ‘me, myself and I’ because I could have […]

Question: Tell me about your career in engineering and your work in space programs? Answer: “I was educated to be an engineer at the University of Michigan, where I must have taken like 15 math courses. I’ve always explained to people the type of engineering I did was like the mechanics branch of physics. When I graduated, I worked for Boeing in Seattle and I was working on the Minuteman Missile – and Seattle was a beautiful town. You had the ocean on one side, the cascade mountains on the […]

Friendship Village residents are creating “Puppets with a Purpose”!

Friendship Village Chesterfield residents have a fun new community project they are working on and we’re calling it “Puppets with a Purpose”! Under the guidance of Aristocrafts Coordinator Patty Aufricht, the residents in her class are observing Sesame Street’s 50th Anniversary by working jointly with teacher Denise Cox and her students at North Side School in St Louis. The new project has residents busily sewing Sesame Street hand puppets which will be used in the classroom for various learning projects. In addition to the hand-made puppets, Friendship Village residents working […]

Question: What personal trait about you do you think is most important? Anser: “My faith. God is always there to help me. I’ve been a Catholic all my life and I’ve always been very faithful. I have a prayer book that I read every morning that covers everything I want to pray for. I’ve lost both of my sons and I lost my husband and in that prayer book, I can pray for the deceased, I can pray for those who need prayers, I can pray for those who are […]

Question: Where did your baseball fandom originate? Answer: “My husband and I have two sons and they both played baseball growing up. They went to Jefferson College and played so I think that’s when we really became baseball fans, because we went to all their games from when they were little. We love the Cardinals. My husband and I are life-long citizens of Chesterfield and have lived here for all 63 years of marriage. I grew up along highway 40 across from where the Mormon Temple is now. We’ve been […]

Question: Did you like being in school? Answer: “I did. I was in the majorettes and we had the parades and all those things. And I still today have five friends and we get together every two or three months and they’re friends I’ve had since grade school. And all the social activities and football games and the proms made it special. Those things really come to mind when I think about those years. So many friendships. We all grew up together. I grew up in Baden which was a […]

Question: What would you say your number one passion in life is now? Answer: “We’re very active in Christ and with the church. I’m very much into the Bible. I do Bible Study about three times per week here at the village. I’d say that’s my number one passion…always has been. Right now, we’re on the book of Acts, which I’m excited about. We’ve passed over Acts for a while so I’m excited to learn about it. But in addition to Bible Study, one of the seminary professors from Covenant […]
