“Here I am. I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with them, and they with me.” - Revelation 3:20
This passage was the inspiration for the painting titled, The Light of the World. It is considered by many as the most traveled work of art in history and is sometimes referred to as the “sermon in a frame.
What makes this painting unusual is that Jesus is shown knocking on the door of a home, but there is no doorknob. Jesus holds a lantern and patiently waits for the homeowner to open the door from within.
Even so, He is with you right now as you read this. He is knocking on the door of your heart and yearns to be invited in. Can you hear Him? Will you respond? Yes, Lord. I open the door of my heart to you. Come live in me!
