Jesus stood up again and said to the woman, “Where are your accusers? Didn’t even one of them condemn you?” “No, Lord,” she said. And Jesus said, “Neither do I. Go and sin no more.” - John 8:10-11
Jesus confronted hypocrisy. “Let him who is without sin be the first to throw a stone.” One by one her accusers left having been silenced by the truth that exposed sin in their own heart. One person remained with the woman caught in the act. Jesus. He was the only one who could have thrown a stone. Yet He did nothing of the sort. In fact, He did the opposite.
When all accusers were gone, Jesus stood up to protect and help. He made it clear that He was not going to hurt her. She was safe with Him. His non-condemning presence entered her shame. It gave her the power to go and sin no more. He restored – and still restores – dignity, honor, and hope!
