Multiple times in the Scripture we find prophetic pictures of God’s ultimate intentions for His people. The end of the book of Ezekiel features a discussion of a new city that God will establish with this amazing promise: “The Lord is there!” It is a metaphor to help us understand that God’s desire is that we would know Him deeply and experience life with a sense of His continuing surrounding presence, love, and care. We might live in the greater St. Louis region today, but we are also meant to be citizens of a Heavenly Kingdom that is all around us, saturated with the peace and goodness of God.
