“For while we are in this tent, we groan and are burdened, because we do not wish to be unclothed but to be clothed instead with our heavenly dwelling, so that what is mortal may be swallowed up by life.” - 2 Corinthians 5:4
I have a few necessities when I go camping with family & friends. I want coffee to percolate over the campfire, plenty of food & water, flashlights, s’mores, sleeping bags, and a nearby outhouse. And I want a tent to sleep in! Paul the apostle compares our physical body to a tent. Inside my tent (my body) lives the real me. My eternal spirit lives within.
Just like I exit the tent and take it down at the end of a camping trip, even so my spirit will one day exit my physical body. Thank God that we have this hope & assurance: Jesus is the resurrection & the life. Those who believe on Him, though they die, yet shall they live!
