“…for the battle is the Lord’s…” - 1 Samuel 17:47b
It looked like young David was outmatched. He marched off to face the giant with no protective gear and held only a sling and a stone. The giant was covered in heavy armor and carried a spear with a 15-pound iron point. He threatened to utterly destroy David, but David was filled with sudden courage. It wasn’t about how powerful he was compared to the giant. It was about how great the Lord is at all times! Undaunted, David declared that the battle belonged to the Lord, and God caused David to overcome the giant on the first try. As we devote ourselves to the Lord, we can trust that God works on our behalf to help us overcome every trial and adversity we face, no matter how gigantic it may seem. Let’s trust Him. The battle belongs to the Lord!
