“…Where you go I will go, and where you stay I will stay. Your people will be my people and your God my God.” - Ruth 1:16
The story of Ruth in the Old Testament begins with a time of heartache. Naomi’s husband and her two grown sons had unexpectedly died. The truth is that hard times come to us all. Some people respond by isolating themselves from others as they try to insulate themselves from greater pain. Others wisely open up their hearts and intentionally draw near to those who care. This was the decision of Naomi’s daughter-in-law, Ruth. Instead of turning away, Ruth decided to bind herself even closer to the one who loved her. If you are in a season of heartache, pain, or on-going pressure, you can find deeper peace by choosing to connect in a greater way to the people around you. Let’s choose to hold on tight to one another and to the God who made us. The opportunity to draw closer is still open. No one has to feel alone!
