“Then came the Festival of Dedication at Jerusalem. It was winter, and Jesus was in the temple courts walking in Solomon’s Colonnade.” - John 10:22
The Hebrew “Festival of Dedication” is more familiar to us by its other name: Hanukkah. In the 2nd century before Christ, the Maccabean revolt took place, giving the Jewish people a brief period of self-rule & the freedom to openly practice their faith. During this time, the Temple was rededicated to the Lord and restored to its purpose. This year’s Hannukah celebration runs from Nov. 28 – Dec. 6. May it serve as an opportunity to dedicate ourselves anew to the Lord and to find our own renewed sense of purpose and meaning in Him. Happy Hanukkah!
