“Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.” - Galatians 6:2
The Bible is full of all kinds of laws, but there is one law that sums up and surpasses them all: the law of Christ. What is that? To love the Lord our God with all our heart, soul, and strength AND to love our neighbors as much as we love ourselves. Who is our neighbor? Every person we encounter. Every person in need. Today’s scripture says that we fulfill this law when we choose to come alongside and help carry the burdens of the people around us. We help ease the burdens of others when we choose kindness, mercy, and generosity. It happens as we take time to listen, to pray, and to help. No one is meant to walk through this life alone, and each of us can play a role in helping to make someone’s burden lighter. As we do, we discover that we are being lifted too…by a God who cares!
