The story of Ezra includes the rebuilding of the Temple of God after decades of destruction and decay. As the foundation was laid, the work momentarily stopped for a time of celebration. The people all came together to give thanks and to remind themselves of the goodness of God even in the midst of all the hardship they had been through. It’s important that we also take time to count our blessings and to deliberately honor God in the middle of our circumstances as well.
