“Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful.” - Colossians 4:2
This verse is fascinating for what it doesn’t say. It doesn’t tell us to devote ourselves our prayer because we are watchful and worried, but rather watchful and thankful. Fear is never meant to be the basis of our prayers. Instead, we can trust God as our Heavenly Father, the best Father ever, who is always compassionate and kind. His goodness is greater than any obstacle or adversity before us. No matter what we face, we can do so with thanksgiving because we know that we are completely loved by the God of the universe. Let’s never forget that we have so many reasons to be thankful!
