“For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God…” - 2 Timothy 1:6a
Every fire needs three things to ignite: heat, fuel, and oxygen. If even one of these is absent, a fire cannot be lit, let alone sustained. Our scripture today likens the presence of God in our lives to a fire. The good news is that He supplies the heat and the fuel, sparking in us His goodness and power as we look to Him. What we bring is the atmosphere for the fire. We can open our hearts to Him and pursue His work in us or we can put a wet blanket over what He wants to do through our unwillingness to cooperate. The choice is ours. The Lord is looking to ignite our lives with His love so that we can in turn touch others in a life-changing way. Let’s open our hearts to Him afresh and see allow fire of God to bring warmth to us all!
