The concepts of “justice” and “revenge” are not far apart. Many old western movies are built on these themes as the main characters work to settle the score and dish out what the perpetrators deserve. Real life isn’t so different. When we are impacted by a wrong, we often want to lash out. All too often, when we are hurt, we end up hurting others. The Bible, however, points us in a new direction. It calls us to give away mercy and goodness, even in the face of hurt. God empowers us to make the world a better place by giving away the love He gives to us.
