“The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.” - Psalm 18:2
When David and his men were running from King Saul, they took refuge in a rocky place in the desert. As Saul’s forces were closing in, they found refuge and security in a cave. Like a hideout made out of solid rock, the Lord is looking to be our place of safety and strength. Just as the horns on an animal symbolize its strength and power, God wants to be the “horn” of our salvation, the one who empowers us to overcome. We can find new strength. He is a refuge for all who turn to Him.
