“Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!” - Philippians 4:4
Paul the Apostle wrote these words while in prison. Can you imagine? He was in chains, trapped in a prison cell, and was surrounded by guards. This is how he lived day in and day out. Yet he encouraged us over and over throughout the book of Philippians to rejoice!
How is this possible? Paul went on to talk about what we dwell on. Is it true, noble, right, pure, lovely, admirable, excellent, or praiseworthy? Let your mind think on these things.
It takes intentional effort to focus on the good when there is great difficulty in life. It can be found, though, and it will help us have joy.
In the presence of the Lord there is fullness of joy. And His joy is our strength.
Let your heart be glad today. Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I say, rejoice!
