Friendship Village Senior Services’ Update and Response to COVID-19 as of Monday, November 30th, 2020
Dear Friends, Residents and Families of Friendship Village:
We hope that everyone had a safe and good Thanksgiving, under the circumstances. The Villages are beautifully decorated now and ready for Christmas. We are back on this Monday, November 30th, with an update on the status of COVID-19 on our campuses.
Friendship Village Chesterfield
- Currently no residents in Skilled Nursing or Assisted Living who are positive for COVID-19 at this time and we are very grateful for this news.
- There are two residents in Independent Living who are confirmed positive for COVID-19 and are under quarantine and we pray for a successful recovery. Contact tracing has identified a few other residents who were in contact with those residents and they are under observation quarantine currently until it is known if they caught the virus from that contact.
- Chesterfield is still following a “No Visitor” policy at this time.
Friendship Village Sunset Hills
- In Assisted Living, several residents are graduating from quarantine today which will bring the number of residents under quarantine (from either being positive or exposed) to six remaining in quarantine on Tuesday. Currently, two residents are in the hospital being treated for conditions directly or indirectly related to COVID. One resident has recently, and very sadly, passed where COVID-19 was possibly a contributing factor.
- In Independent Living, where voluntary self-quarantine remains in effect tentatively through December 2nd, there are currently eleven residents under official quarantine and three of those will graduate tomorrow, December 1st. Four of the eleven are currently in the hospital with complications and one is in the Skilled Nursing Facility in recovery. Knowing that many residents could not resist visiting family and friends off campus for Thanksgiving, all are being asked to closely monitor themselves and to know if they were exposed to others who have COVID and to report their information to the Care Manager without delay. We pray that no one contracted the virus over the holiday, but we must wait several days until we know.
- In the Skilled Nursing Facility, many residents had tested positive over the past couple of weeks, although most had no symptoms. Three residents are currently in the hospital. Most will come off of the COVID-19 list today and tomorrow and the rest on December 6th. We do know, however, that while residents are coming off of the COVID list, many are frail and continue to be in great need and the care teams are doing everything possible to nurse them back to health, COVID or no COVID. We pray for strong recovery for all, and for the continuous selfless service our caregivers are providing. It is a difficult situation for everyone involved.
- At Sunset Hills, a “Drive-by Christmas Parade” is planned for Saturday, December 12th. The parade begins at 1:30 pm but cars will begin lining up well before that. If it is anything like the Mother’s Day parade, there will be 300-400 cars. We are excited to see what happens!
- Sunset Hills is still following a “No Visitor” policy at this time.
Many employees have been affected by COVID-19, as has the rest of the general population in and around St. Louis County. Be assured that the tremendous staff, who are able, across our campuses are on duty, providing the best in care and service for our residents at every level of senior living and senior care.
Our thanks go out to all who have shown such wonderful support and said prayers for our residents and staff. Please continue to pray with us as we fight this fight.
