We recently had our second meeting of our Intergenerational Program and had a wonderful time bringing young students (ages 4-5) and seniors together for a day of learning basic math, writing skills, spelling, learning values and much more. The program fosters interaction and socialization between the generations, which improves the quality of life for both groups! The children then performed a song for the residents and everybody shared a snack at the end of the day.
The Intergenerational Program was introduced last year by Friendship Village Sunset Hills Creative Arts Coordinator Jenna Schuermeyer, in partnership with Simon Says Director, Michele Snyder of St. Simon Catholic Church and school. These learning events happen quarterly and we focus on a different learning program each time.
Our Friendship Village Sunset Hills residents have loved sharing this time learning, sharing and having fun. We look forward to the next meeting!
