Welcome to the Friendship Villages’ December 13, 2021 COVID-19 update.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from Friendship Villages!
As we recall, virtually all residents received the full regimen of vaccinations last winter and, since then, more than 1,000 residents, including all levels of care on both campuses, have received COVID vaccination booster shots. Many others sought boosters on their own and would add to this number.
While residents seem to be relatively well-protected, there have been a small and isolated number of positive cases on each campus.
- Currently, Sunset Hills has two positive Independent Living residents, one whose spouse did not catch COVID and another who got it from their spouse. All others who have been contact-traced to them are under close symptom-surveillance and standard prevention measures. Assisted Living has one resident who is currently positive and under quarantine. Skilled nursing has a resident in the hospital with COVID who likely contracted it from their spouse earlier.
- Currently, Chesterfield has three Independent Living residents who are positive and contact tracing was inconclusive. All are under quarantine and those who had been in contact are under precautions and surveillance.
- There is currently one employee at Sunset Hills and three at Chesterfield who are at home under quarantine after testing positive.
Because of the careful diligence of employees and residents in protecting themselves and each other from the spread of COVID, residents are still enjoying the low occurrences of COVID infections and with that, the full complement of holiday activities on our campuses. The villages are vibrant with decorations, festivities, food, music, and cheer – something we missed much of last year and the residents and families are glad we’re able to have more fun this year.
We continue to praise God for the mercies He has shown to Friendship Villages, and we thank all of our friends and family for your prayers and support during all of this time.
