Dear Friends, Residents and Families of Friendship Village:
Election Day! The political ads are over, on this Tuesday, November 3rd, 2020!
Just a few updates on the COVID-19 situation at Friendship Villages today.
On the Sunset Hills campus, one Independent Living resident has tested positive. They had not been roaming the campus and contract tracing leads us to believe that they acquired COVID-19 either from a visit to their doctor off campus or from a visitor in their apartment. This resident is currently in the hospital with other afflictions present prior to testing positive. We pray for rapid recovery and return. We are conducting a second, more definitive test on a resident in the Skilled Nursing Facility who tested positive on a screening test which sometimes yields false-positives. Staff has all tested negative. There are no positive residents in Assisted Living and Memory Care. Due to resident visits to the hospital, several are self-quarantined in their living units for a period of time to ensure they didn’t contract the virus.
Employees who were quarantined over the past two weeks are beginning to filter back to work and we are eager for their return.
On the Chesterfield campus, there are currently three independent living residents who are quarantined due to positive COVID test results. One spouse, who we reported previously, and now their spouse who has now tested positive, still under quarantine, but now for a bit longer. And another resident, apparently acquired from off campus, who is in the hospital. Sadly, due to exposure, this has caused our Care Navigator to, now, also quarantine at home until proven negative. We pray for all of them to recover and return swiftly. There are no residents in the Skilled Nursing Facility or in the Assisted Living and Memory Care Facility who are positive for COVID-19.
As with Sunset Hills employees, many of the Chesterfield employees who have been under quarantine are beginning to return to work and we are excited to see them again, all healthy and ready to go.
As always, we all pray that there has been no additional spread to others and our team continues to conduct further contact tracing and asking residents to voluntarily self-quarantine when there has been a possibility of exposure when out in the community.
Please pray with us as we continue our fight to protect our residents and staff. It’s a fight worthy of the best we can give.
The Lord is with us.
