Friendship Village Senior Services’ Update and Response to COVID-19 as of Tuesday, April 7, 2020
Dear Friends, Residents and Families of Friendship Village:
As of Tuesday morning, April 7th, 2020, NO Resident has been diagnosed with COVID-19 coronavirus on either campus, Chesterfield or Sunset Hills. We continue to thank God for this blessing.
Our skilled staff at all levels of care: our Village Care Centers (skilled nursing facilities), Assisted Living and Independent Living communities continue to work hard to prevent the introduction and potential spread of the virus.
We are taking every measure to prevent the introduction of the COVID-19 coronavirus to our Residents and staff.
As we have announced previously, only the following people are allowed on our campuses (now, through newly placed entrance guards):
• Residents (who are highly discouraged from leaving the campus for any reason other than a doctor’s visit or an emergency)
• Employees with proper badge identification
• Approved Caregivers – only, who are on the authorized list managed by our Care Navigator
• “Drop and Go” package delivery at any of the main entrances. No lingering, no visits.
• There are no visits permitted in any building, any parking lot or any outdoor spaces.
Our Employee Health Nurse and all supervisors continue to monitor the health of the workforce and make every effort to identify potential symptoms and prevent bringing the coronavirus to campus.
Our Residents are doing well. They are exceptionally well-fed. They are encouraged to exercise via our televised exercise classes and to walk outside within the confines of our campuses, being very mindful of all social distancing guidelines. With the wonderful weather this week, many Residents are taking advantage of that and getting some sun and stretching their legs. It’s a wonderful sight to behold.
We are instituting some new technologies to entertain and play games with Residents remotely using computers and we look forward to hearing how that is going as we make these activities available to as many as we can.
We gladly accept donations of face masks of both the clinical and/or hand-made washable cloth types. We will put them to immediate and good use. Just drop them off at the door!
