Friendship Village Senior Services’ Update and Response to COVID-19 as of Monday, December 28th, 2020
Dear Friends, Residents and Families of Friendship Village:
This is a very exciting week for our Skilled Nursing Facilities! All consenting residents and staff in our Village Care Centers are receiving the Moderna COVID-19 vaccination today at Sunset Hills and tomorrow at Chesterfield, administered by our partners from Walgreen’s. What a wonderful Christmas present! We do not yet have firm dates for Assisted Living and Independent Living residents but we have indications that Walgreen’s will return in mid-January to vaccinate more of our population.
In addition, residents in Independent Living on both campuses were able to have visitors share in the joy of the Villages over the Christmas holiday. What a wonderful display of family togetherness in the midst of this difficult time, even if under the strictly controlled corona virus protocols that have been in place for these many months. Many, many hearts have been lifted.
As we approach the start of a new year and all of the hope that we pray that it brings, the current status of COVID-19 on our campuses is as follows:
Chesterfield
- Skilled Nursing has three positive residents in-house and one positive resident in the hospital with COVID.
- Assisted Living has no COVID+ residents today.
- Independent Living has no COVID+ residents today, though three are under quarantine for observation.
Sunset Hills
- Skilled Nursing has one positive resident and they are expected to graduate from their recovery program tomorrow.
- Assisted Living has one COVID+ resident who is currently asymptomatic.
- Independent Living has no COVID+ residents in-house, one COVID+ temporarily in the Care Center for three more days, and no residents under quarantine.
Both Villages resume the No Visitor policy beginning today.
Our thanks go out to our Good Lord Jesus Christ for His mercy and to all who have shown such wonderful support and said prayers for our residents and staff.
We have lost many of our resident family members over the year with COVID, from COVID, and without COVID and our hearts go out to their families and to our staff in their loss and we grieve with them all. It is always difficult, even under the best of circumstances, but especially this year, with the conditions that the corona virus has brought upon everyone.
Please pray with us that 2021 will be a year of relief and joy as we continue to fight this fight. Happy New Year! We anticipate that the next update will be published on January 4th, 2021.
