Friendship Village Senior Services’ Update and Response to COVID-19 as of Monday, August 31, 2020
Dear Friends, Residents and Families of Friendship Village:
We are enjoying the start of a cooler week at Friendship Villages on this Monday, August 31st, 2020.
A quick update on COVID-19 status at the Sunset Hills campus. As noted in the report from last Friday, August 28th, we have been watching one or two independent living residents who were under quarantine after returning from a hospital stay.
The independent living resident who has been under quarantine at Sunset Hills following a hospital stay has tested positive for COVID-19, with test results coming back over the weekend. This resident went to the hospital more than 2 weeks ago and has been quarantined, as is our protocol, immediately upon their return. Toward the end of the quarantine period, symptoms were detected. The resident was tested for COVID and we now know that they are positive. Therefore, the resident will continue under quarantine for another 2 weeks until they are clear of COVID-19. They appear to be fine, no need for hospitalization, and are recovering on site with frequent monitoring by our Nurse Care Navigator. Since they were already under quarantine, they had not moved around the facility since before going to the hospital approximately 3 weeks ago and won’t be moving around the facility until cleared once again.
We are conducting contact tracing to identify any other individuals who may have had contact with the resident and following them closely.
The residents who were being observed on the Chesterfield campus came back with negative results and we are very grateful for that. Chesterfield has no residents at any level of care who are positive for COVID-19.
Please pray with us for a single, isolated case and that the resident recovers quickly and returns back to full health.
