Dear Friends, Residents and Families of Friendship Village:
After a beautiful weekend, Friendship Village is getting off to a good start on this gorgeous Monday, April 20, 2020.
The new COVID Care Center in our Chesterfield skilled nursing facility is taking great care of a small number of COVID-19-positive Residents and bringing some refreshed socialization and quality of life back into their daily routines. We have a smaller number of Residents who have been in the hospital with the coronavirus for the past few days and all appear to be doing well. In fact, we were excited to welcome one Resident back from the hospital after their symptoms subsided and they are now back in their familiar surroundings in the skilled nursing facility. Our trained and laser-focused care teams are doing a great job with the holistic care that all of our Residents are receiving, and we can’t thank them enough for their dedication and for the selfless service they are performing.
Everywhere else on our campuses, Residents are going great. In the mornings, the sound of piano music fills the air as Residents line up (social distancing and masks, of course) to pick up breakfast, say hello, and continue on their way. Despite the hardship and lack of visitors, everyone is coping well, and enjoying a little Spring weather along the way.
We’ve had an increasing use of technology in our skilled nursing facilities that can connect Residents to their physicians to ensure they are still treated and monitored well under the circumstances. Our teams have facilitated calls between Residents and physicians for mental health consultations, cardiology follow-ups and other clinical specialties that enable the continued delivery of care even under restricted travel conditions.
Gift-Giving Now Open:
Many family members have inquired as to how to donate a gift of appreciation for the staff for their service during the time of the COVID-19 pandemic. Our website at FriendshipVillageSTL.com now has an easy-to-use tab to use in making contributions for the staff and we thank all of you for considering a gift. Over the weekend, families and others have contributed more than $1,100 to the Village staff that we will put to great use in showing your appreciation for the terrific work they are doing. Thank you all for your generosity.
As always, all of us thank you all for your continued prayers as we continually ask our Lord Jesus Christ to enable us to do our best to fend-off the COVID-19 coronavirus and to maintain the safety and protection of our Residents and staff.
