Dear Friends, Residents and Families of Friendship Village:
It’s been a bit of an eventful week at Friendship Villages as we close out on this Friday, October 23rd, 2020.
Both Villages have had a bit more COVID-19 activity than normal over the past several days.
The bulk of COVID activity associated with the Villages has been among our employees and began last weekend.
Almost in sync with the surge of COVID-19 cases in the State, our employees have also been affected.
At Sunset Hills, 6 employees are at home with confirmed positive test results and another 10 quarantined at home either pending a test result or doing so because of exposure to someone else who is positive.
The single resident in the Sunset Hills Assisted Living facility who tested positive last week is doing okay as they quarantine in their apartment there, with a few days to go toward graduation, and we are thankful for her health.
At Chesterfield, 3 employees are at home with confirmed positive test results and another 9 quarantined at home either pending a test result or doing so because of exposure to someone else who is positive.
A single resident in independent living in Chesterfield has tested positive, (contracted off campus) although their spouse is thus far negative. This resident has shown virtually no symptoms, is feeling well, and didn’t know they had it.
As a precaution, after contact tracing, other residents had been identified as having been in close proximity of this resident and have also been asked to self-quarantine until we have the “all clear” sign. We all pray that there has been no spread to others and our team continues to conduct further contact tracing in the effort to exhaust the effort to find any others who may have been in contact.
Given the circumstances, we have implemented additional precautions in independent living on both campuses.
Our Assisted Living and Skilled Nursing facilities continue with the precautions that have been in place for some time. While we certainly don’t like the separation from families, there are still no visitors permitted due to County and State policies.
We believe that God has truly blessed Friendship Villages as we seek our calling to provide the very best in retirement living and senior care and we thank everyone for the continued support you have shown and demonstrated.
Please pray with us as we continue our fight to protect our residents and staff. It’s a fight worthy of the best we can give.
The Lord is with us.
