Friendship Village Senior Services’ Update and Response to COVID-19 as of Friday, October 16, 2020
Dear Friends, Residents and Families of Friendship Village:
We are experiencing climate change at Friendship Villages this week as Fall breaks through, giving us a nice, crisp morning on this Friday, October 16th, 2020.
Both Villages have had a bit more COVID-19 activity than normal over the past several days.
At Sunset Hills, a single employee had unknowingly contracted the coronavirus and was in close proximity to a few Residents in the Assisted Living facility before symptoms were detected, and then subsequent testing indicated that they were positive for COVID-19. Our staff immediately performed testing on the residents and have discovered that one resident, who had not shown symptoms, has tested positive and is being cared-for. At this time no other residents have tested positive and we are thankful for that.
In the Sunset Hills Skilled Nursing Facility, a single provider has tested positive and, since then, all Residents have been tested and none have come back positive, and we are thankful for that, as well.
In the Chesterfield Independent Living community, a single employee has tested positive for COVID and several others are quarantining at home due to exposure to this employee, but none have yet shown to be positive for COVID. There are no confirmed positive Residents on the Chesterfield campus at this time, and we are thankful for that, too.
To summarize: One confirmed COVID-positive Resident at Sunset Hills in Assisted Living and one confirmed positive employee and another confirmed positive staff member in the Skilled Nursing Facility at this time. No confirmed positive Residents on the Chesterfield campus but there is one confirmed positive employee at this time. Other employees are being monitored at each campus and Residents are being tested and monitored regularly for any detection of the virus.
Because of our positive exposures, our visitor policies for Assisted Living and Skilled Nursing at Sunset Hills are closed down, again. Please contact your facility of interest for any changes to this policy as the buildings are cleared of COVID once more. There are no changes to visitor policies on the Chesterfield campus.
As always, we continue to emphasize our preventive protocols for Residents and staff and have measures in place for early detection and, if necessary, for effective contact tracing.
