Dear Friends, Residents and Families of Friendship Village:
On this Good Friday, April 10, 2020, all of us at Friendship Village, Residents and staff alike, pray that you and your families and friends are able to enjoy and celebrate a wonderful Easter weekend.
Our Residents are preparing for an Easter like none they have ever experienced in their lifetimes. Sequestered from family and friends in the physical sense, but with them all in thoughts and memories of past traditions, we are doing what we can to keep spirits high by celebrating with in-house television worship services with our fantastic Chaplains, or online with their home churches, or among themselves as they choose to spend the day as they desire.
As always, our staff continues to ensure they are well-fed, perhaps with a little extra Easter flair on Sunday. The weather is crisp and beautiful. An abundance of entertainment options are available on-line or on television in their apartment or villa. Funny moments happen. Jokes are told. Even under masks, smiles are everywhere to be found. But, they miss their loved ones and can’t wait for the day when all can be reunited. We will have quite a celebration then!
Even though the draw of visiting is especially strong on Easter, we do still have a very strict, No-Visitor policy in effect, everywhere on campus. We also do not want Residents to leave the campus if not an absolute emergency. None of us can ever know where exposure to the COVID-19 coronavirus can occur, so we would like to avoid the risk as completely as we can.
All of our Residents at all of our levels of care remain healthy and vibrant and free of the coronavirus and our staff is holding their own as well. We continue to pray that this continues, and we must remain vigilant. Please help reinforce our preventive measures to continue along this path.
Gifts of Appreciation for the Staff:
We have been asked by many families about how they could send a gift or donation in appreciation for the sacrifices and the extraordinary efforts our staff is undertaking to care for their family member. In response, we are setting up a way to contribute either online or through the mail or by telephone if anyone would like to send a gift of appreciation to the staff. As soon as this is ready, we will post it on our website and send a note. We sincerely and warmly welcome your generosity. Rest assured that every penny contributed for the staff will go only to the staff. We can’t thank you enough for these gifts.
Thank you all for your continued prayers as we continually ask our Lord Jesus Christ to enable us to do our best to fend-off the COVID-19 coronavirus and to maintain the safety and protection of our Residents and staff.
We need and gladly accept donations of face masks of both the clinical and/or hand-made washable cloth types. We will put them to immediate and good use. Just drop them off at the door!
