Question: You say you used to show dogs. What drew you to do that?
Answer: “It was a lifestyle, definitely, like owning a boat or something like that. I used to travel a lot, mostly from here to Boston. I bread Weimaraners, delivered puppies, raised them and then showed them for ten years. I just enjoyed the breed. They’re beautiful dogs and are highly intelligent. I loved the traveling and meeting people when I was showing dogs. I’m a people person. I even showed dogs for other people. I never charged them. I just did it because they asked me to.”
“One of our males was a National Field Champion and a Bench Champion and then we showed his offspring in field trials all over from here to the East Coast. It’s a great hobby and I like to be outdoors and most of the field trialing with those dogs was outside.” – Suzanne Hopkins, Friendship Village Sunset Hills resident
After gathering about 170 interviews and photos, we will publish A BOOK featuring all the great residents who participated at Friendship Village Chesterfield and Friendship Village Sunset Hills. AND PARTICIPANTS get A FREE COPY OF THE BOOK! During the period of working on the project, we will also be sharing these photos and stories on Facebook and other social media such as Instagram, so look for them and please follow the hashtag #WeAreFriendshipVillage to stay current with the project!
We think it’s a great chance to share a bit about who we are! Residents’ participation takes about fifteen minutes, so it won’t take much time to be a part of it and we think everyone will enjoy getting to know their neighbors and friends a little bit better!
We look forward to seeing you as we get to share insights about the senior living residents who are making our Friendship Village retirement communities so great!
Thanks again!
