Question: Do you remember what you did on your first date with your husband?
Answer: Yes. We didn’t know each other very well. I was a sophomore in high school and he was a junior. He had invited me to the junior/senior prom, but he had thoughtfully said maybe it would be nice if we went out a few times before prom so we would know each other a little better. On our first date, I wasn’t swept off my feet immediately, but he was easy to talk to and I had enough sense to go out with him again. I did like spending time with him and over a year and half, it changed. I got to spend more time with him and spend time with his friends. And he wasn’t a bad kisser, either. He was patient and kind and thoughtful. He just grew on me. He was fun to be with. It wasn’t just like a bolt of lightning, but it was an ongoing experience. So, after about six months of dating, we were out on the Admiral (St. Louis boat) and he brought this box out of his pocket and opened it up and it was an engagement ring. And it was right before I went away to college. And you should have heard what my parents said about that. They said, “He couldn’t even let you get out the door before he got a ring on your finger!” And we got married the next summer. It was sweet. It still is.” – Patricia Weber, resident Friendship Village Sunset Hills

The above photo and text are part of our new year-long project we’re calling We Are Friendship Village. We are posting these photos and interviews to our website’s blog section every day as we talk with residents at Friendship Village Chesterfield and Friendship Village Sunset Hills. The idea is to give a snapshot introduction to the residents who make up our wonderful senior living communities and give you a peek at something you might not know about them!
At year’s end, we will publish A BOOK featuring all the great residents who participated and PARTICIPANTS GET A FREE COPY OF THE BOOK! . During this year, we will also be sharing these photos and text on Facebook and other social media such as Instagram, so look for them and please follow the hashtag #WeAreFriendshipVillage to stay up to date!
We think it’s a great chance to share a bit about who we are! Residents’ participation takes less than ten minutes, so it won’t take much time to be a part of it and we think everyone will enjoy getting to know their neighbors and friends a bit better!
If you are interested in participating (or know someone else who might be), feel free to give us a call at (314) 270-7837 or email at nagysteve@fvstl.com or drop by the marketing suites in Sunset Hills or Chesterfield. We have 365 of these to do over the course of the year, so everyone is welcome!
We look forward to meeting with you as we get to share about the senior living residents who are making our Friendship Village retirement communities so wonderful!
Thanks again!
