Question: What’s your favorite activity to do in your free time and why?
Answer: “I knew I wanted to go into medicine, but I also knew that I didn’t want to be in charge of somebody’s life. So, I decided to go into dentistry and graduated in 1961. I didn’t set up a practice because I knew the minute I set up a practice I’d get drafted, so I signed up as an army dentist and spent two years in D.C. I wanted to go overseas but that was during the Vietnam War and they had extended all the dentists overseas already, so I had to stay here. Outside of my work, my main passion really is Christianity. I went through confirmation and all, but I had some things I couldn’t understand. I read Hal Lindsey’s “Late, Great Planet Earth” and that convinced me the Bile was the word of God. I was 40 years old then. I belong to two Bible Studies now and my favorite book is probably John. For people who haven’t read much of the Bible, John is a good book to read because it’s easy to understand and has a lot of important information in it.” – Lee Carlson, resident Friendship Village Chesterfield

The above photo and text are part of our new year-long project we’re calling We Are Friendship Village. We are posting these photos and brief interviews to our website’s blog section every day as we talk with residents at Friendship Village Chesterfield and Friendship Village Sunset Hills. The idea is to give a snapshot introduction to the residents who make up our wonderful senior living communities and give you a peek at something you might not know about them!
At year’s end, we will publish A BOOK featuring all the great residents who participated. During this year, we will also be sharing these photos and text on Facebook and other social media such as Instagram, so look for them and please follow the hashtag #WeAreFriendshipVillage to stay up to date!
We think it’s a great chance to share a bit about who we are! Residents’ participation takes less than ten minutes, so it won’t take much time to be a part of it and we think everyone will enjoy getting to know their neighbors and friends a bit better!
If you are interested in participating (or know someone else who might be), feel free to give us a call at (314) 270-7837 or email at nagysteve@fvstl.com or drop by the marketing suites in Sunset Hills or Chesterfield. We have 365 of these to do over the course of the year, so everyone is welcome!
We look forward to meeting with you as we get to share about the senior living residents who are making our Friendship Village retirement communities so wonderful!
Thanks again!
