Question: How did you meet your wife Diane?
Answer: “We met through a mutual friend at a root beer stand, back when there were root beer stands and started dating for a few months and then started going more steady. We found out we had a lot in common. She was living by the river and my dad had a spot by the river and we ended up going out together on the river skiing and boating. We started out in the summer, so that was good timing to be able to be out on the water together. And things really took off after that. So, after I went through the approval proceedings with her parents and we got married (in 1963).”
“In 1991 (after working and raising their two girls), we left our home town, we sold our house and we moved aboard a 43-foot motor yacht and we lived on that boat for six years and spent twenty-eight years in Florida. Then we bought a motor home and cruised around in that for eight years when we traveled. We would pick up our grandsons (in St. Louis where our kids are) and take them on trips so we could spend time together. We used the motor home every summer (from May to October) until 2016.”
“People always ask about how we could spend so much time together in such small spaces and we tell them that at the end of every day, we take a walk, but not in the same direction.” – Jim Loos, Friendship Village Sunset Hills resident
After gathering about 170 interviews and photos, we will publish A BOOK featuring all the great residents who participated at Friendship Village Chesterfield and Friendship Village Sunset Hills. AND PARTICIPANTS get A FREE COPY OF THE BOOK! During the period of working on the project, we will also be sharing these photos and stories on Facebook and other social media such as Instagram, so look for them and please follow the hashtag #WeAreFriendshipVillage to stay current with the project!
We think it’s a great chance to share a bit about who we are! Residents’ participation takes about fifteen minutes, so it won’t take much time to be a part of it and we think everyone will enjoy getting to know their neighbors and friends a little bit better!
We look forward to seeing you as we get to share insights about the senior living residents who are making our Friendship Village retirement communities so great!
Thanks again!
