Question: Where did your baseball fandom originate?
Answer: “My husband and I have two sons and they both played baseball growing up. They went to Jefferson College and played so I think that’s when we really became baseball fans, because we went to all their games from when they were little. We love the Cardinals. My husband and I are life-long citizens of Chesterfield and have lived here for all 63 years of marriage. I grew up along highway 40 across from where the Mormon Temple is now. We’ve been going to Cardinals spring training for 13-14 years now. The first time we went, we were only down there for a week, but we liked it so much we slowly started spending more time there. Before we knew it, we were down there for two months! Now we go down for about 5 weeks and that’s our yearly routine. We stay with friends and we see their family while we’re down there too. The friend we stay with has a sister in Gainesville and one in Pembroke Pines, so we always try to see them, or they’ll visit us while we’re down there.” – Janet Weinrich, Friendship Village Chesterfield

The text and photo above are part of a year-long project called We Are Friendship Village. We are gathering these photos and brief interviews for Friendship Village’s website’s blog section each day as we chat with residents at Friendship Village Chesterfield and Friendship Village Sunset Hills. We want to give a snapshot introduction to the residents who make up our wonderful senior living communities and give some bit of insight into something you might not know about them. It’s always easier to make new friends when you know a little about them!
At year’s end, we will publish A BOOK featuring the wonderful residents who participated. AND PARTICIPANTS GET A FREE COPY OF THE BOOK! During this year, we will also be sharing these photos and text on Facebook and other social media such as Instagram, so keep an eye out for them! And you can follow the hashtag #WeAreFriendshipVillage to stay up to date!
We’re excited for this great chance to share a bit about who we are! Residents’ participation takes just a few minutes, so it won’t take much time to be a part of it!!
Want to participate (or know someone else who might want to?), Please give us a call at (314) 270-7837 or send an email to nagysteve@fvstl.com or drop by the marketing suites in Sunset Hills or Chesterfield. We have 365 of these to do over the course of the year, so everyone is welcome!
We’re looking forward to talking with folks as we get to share more about the senior living residents who are making our Friendship Village retirement communities so wonderful!
Thanks!
