Question: How did you come to realize what you wanted to do in your career?
Answer: “When I graduated from Brown, I went to work for the Saint Louis Public Library and it was very mentally stimulating, but not physically. I attended a National Women’s Lacrosse meet my senior year in college and it was the most beautiful game I had ever seen. I realized that’s what I wanted to do. So, I went to Washington University and got my master’s in health and physical education because it had movement and the intellectual side. I knew I liked art, too and I had a professor at Wash U that told me, “How do you reconcile Fine Art and Physical Education?” I became a dance teacher – so the fine art was what ended up creating the movement. I think teaching is important. Movement is my business, and all my life I have appreciated and done movement, and so by teaching it, I was applying my whole life, really. I have a quote I like to apply to things that says, ‘You are never too old to set another goal, or to dream a new dream.’ – C.S. Lewis. I try to look forward to what I can do next, and I know it’s out there.” – Frances Leimkuehler, resident Friendship Village Chesterfield

The above photo and text are part of our new year-long project we’re calling We Are Friendship Village. We are posting these photos and brief interviews to our website’s blog section every day as we talk with residents at Friendship Village Chesterfield and Friendship Village Sunset Hills. The idea is to give a snapshot introduction to the residents who make up our wonderful senior living communities and give you a peek at something you might not know about them!
At year’s end, we will publish A BOOK featuring all the great residents who participated AND EVERYONE WHO PARTICIPATES GETS A FREE COPY OF THE BOOK ! During this year, we will also be sharing these photos and text on Facebook and other social media such as Instagram, so look for them and please follow the hashtag #WeAreFriendshipVillage to stay up to date!
We think it’s a great chance to share a bit about who we are! Residents’ participation takes less than ten minutes, so it won’t take much time to be a part of it and we think everyone will enjoy getting to know their neighbors and friends a bit better!
If you are interested in participating (or know someone else who might be), feel free to give us a call at (314) 270-7837 or email at nagysteve@fvstl.com or drop by the marketing suites in Sunset Hills or Chesterfield. We have 365 of these to do over the course of the year, so everyone is welcome!
We look forward to meeting with you as we get to share about the senior living residents who are making our Friendship Village retirement communities so wonderful!
Thanks again!
