Question: Why do you think you were so drawn to automobiles?
Answer: “I’m what you’d call a gear head. In high school, I was the guy that fixed your car. I didn’t throw touchdown passes and I didn’t win the literary prize, but I was very well-followed because I was the guy that fixed your car. Cars and motorcycles have been a hobby all my life. I guess it started as a kid, but with the technology of our era, there weren’t electronics. We didn’t have a TV in our house. Coming home from school and listening to the Lone Ranger on the radio was about as electronic as it got. The technology of our day was the gasoline engine, steam trains, airplanes, and things of that nature. All those things centered around the internal combustion engine and something just kind of addicted me at a very young age. Listening to it, wondering how it worked, and then finding out how it worked was fascinating.” – Carl Mungenast, resident Friendship Village Chesterfield

The above photo and text are part of our new year-long project we’re calling We Are Friendship Village. We are posting these photos and brief interviews to our website’s blog section every day as we talk with residents at Friendship Village Chesterfield and Friendship Village Sunset Hills. The idea is to give a snapshot introduction to the residents who make up our wonderful senior living communities and give you a peek at something you might not know about them!
At year’s end, we will publish A BOOK featuring all the great residents who participated. During this year, we will also be sharing these photos and text on Facebook and other social media such as Instagram, so look for them and please follow the hashtag #WeAreFriendshipVillage to stay up to date!
We think it’s a great chance to share a bit about who we are! Residents’ participation takes less than ten minutes, so it won’t take much time to be a part of it and we think everyone will enjoy getting to know their neighbors and friends a bit better!
If you are interested in participating (or know someone else who might be), feel free to give us a call at (314) 270-7837 or email at nagysteve@fvstl.com or drop by the marketing suites in Sunset Hills or Chesterfield. We have 365 of these to do over the course of the year, so everyone is welcome!
We look forward to meeting with you as we get to share about the senior living residents who are making our Friendship Village retirement communities so wonderful!
Thanks again!
