Navigating end-of-life care is a challenging journey for both seniors and their families. At Friendship Village, we’re focused on providing comfort and comprehensive support for those facing a terminal illness. Medicare recognizes four distinct levels of hospice care:
Routine home care is the most common level of hospice. For many residents, receiving care in the comfort of their own home is the ideal situation. Our expert caregivers provide regular visits to assist with medication and pain management, daily tasks like bathing and dressing, and offer emotional support.
When symptoms become more intense and require increased support, continuous home care may be necessary. This level provides more frequent nursing visits, sometimes even around the clock. This helps manage symptoms, enhance comfort, and provide much-needed support for caregivers who may feel overwhelmed.
While we strive to provide comfort at home, sometimes managing symptoms requires a hospital setting. General inpatient care offers short-term stays in a specialized facility where residents receive 24/7 medical attention to address complex needs that cannot be managed at home. The focus remains on pain and symptom control, ensuring the highest level of comfort possible.
Caring for a loved one nearing the end of life can be physically and emotionally demanding. Respite care offers caregivers a temporary break to rest and recharge. During these short-term stays, usually up to five days, residents receive continued hospice support in a comfortable setting.
When you choose hospice care from Friendship Village, you’re choosing a compassionate approach to providing comfort and dignity during challenging times. Our goal is to provide residents and their families with the guidance and resources they need to navigate this chapter.
