I say to myself, “The Lord is my portion; therefore I will wait for Him - Lamentations 3:24
The book of Lamentations expresses great lament before the Lord. The people of God had experienced terrible heartache and tragedy. Their whole way of life had been destroyed and they had been taken captive by a foreign nation. The future looked bleak. Yet, the writer took a moment to look beyond what had been lost and to remember what they still had. May we never forget: the Lord’s compassions never fail and God’s mercies are new every morning. In the midst of trouble, what do we still have? God’s love, mercy, and care. He is our portion forever and He is faithful to His promises. Always…even on our worst days. Trust Him. He is with you!
