"Jesus wept." - John 11:35
Some days are really hard. Painful news arrives and we are left reeling. What do we do next…and what do we do with the heartache? The eleventh chapter of John tells the story of Lazarus, who unexpectedly passed away. This was a family that Jesus loved dearly, and when He finally arrived in that town, the man’s sisters fell at the Lord’s feet, overwhelmed with grief. Jesus stood with them…and wept. He feels our pain. When we hurt, He hurts with us. There is a God who cares, and when we turn to Him, we can discover that He offers us real comfort and hope. There is a day that will come when death, sorrow, pain, and mourning will be no more. He will wipe away every tear. Between now and then, let’s bring our griefs to the One who deeply loves us all…and let’s trust Him to meet us at the point of our pain.
Also: if I, or any member of our chaplain teams, can be of service to you as you work through your own heartaches and griefs, we’re here. The Lord cares…and so do we. Reach out any time.
