“For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are…yet He did not sin.” - Hebrews 4:15
Today is Yom Kippur, the Jewish day of atonement (from sundown on the 15th through sundown on the 16th). During the time of Jesus, the Jewish high priest would enter into the Most Holy Place of the Temple and offers sacrifices on this day to atone for the sins of the people. The book of Hebrews tells us that Jesus entered once and for all into the Heavenly Temple as the true High Priest over all of us and made provision for us to be forever forgiven. He understands our weaknesses and failures and has worked to give us all we need to overcome. He who has stood strong through every test has come to give us the help we need.
