“Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.” - Colossians 3:13
The whole point of the Gospel is to realize that Jesus came into the world to forgive and restore all of us. Just as He offers us forgiveness for our sins, He then calls and empowers us to forgive others. There are at least two benefits when we choose to follow the Lord’s example in this way. First, the burden of shame is lifted off the offender. They are set free to live anew. Second, the anger and bitterness that both want to capture our own hearts also get lifted. Now there is a chance to begin again and for relationships to start afresh. Let God’s forgiveness wash in and through you. Today can be a new day.
