“I give you thanks, oh Lord, with my whole heart.” - Psalm 138:1 ESV
King David begins Psalm 138 with a determination to praise. He would not be distracted or divided in his worship. He praised God who is great and worthy to be praised. Yet something else was in this mix of “whole-heart” worship. David was also honest about his troubles and need for deliverance. Worship from his whole heart meant bringing all of himself to God. It’s in this kind of praise that we become assured of God’s enduring love. In both doubts and faith, our Lord remains the one who will never forsake us. He is worthy of all our heart’s devotion!
