Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from Friendship Villages!
As we recall, virtually all residents received the full regimen of vaccinations last winter and, since then, more than 1,000 residents, including all levels of care on both campuses, have received COVID vaccination booster shots. Many others sought boosters on their own and would add to this number.
Still, COVID-19 remains a challenge.
We have had a bit of a spate of COVID on the Chesterfield campus. Recently and currently, several residents in independent living have been positive for COVID-19, as well as ten employees. While we recognize that it is no longer possible to avoid COVID-19 completely, even among fully vaccinated and boosted people, we are taking several measures to try to prevent the spread, and this has included curtailing several Holiday activities or cancelling them altogether. We regret having to take this action, especially during this festive season. In addition, we are strongly encouraging the wearing of masks, washing of hands and social distancing, whether vaccinated or not. Despite all of this, our staff is working hard to create as much of an enjoyable atmosphere as possible. We pray that we will be out of this soon!
At Sunset Hills, there are currently no independent living residents positive with COVID-19 and a single resident in Assisted Living and a single resident in Skilled Nursing are positive but quarantined. And no known employees are positive. We thank God for this status.
We continue to praise God for the mercies He has shown to Friendship Villages, and we thank all of our friends and family for their prayers and support during this time.
