“The Redeemer will come to Zion, to those in Jacob who repent of their sins." - Isaiah 59:20
A brief set of definitions helps us understand today’s verse. “Zion” is a way of referring to not only the capital of Israel (Jerusalem), but also as a way of defining the essence of who they are as a people. To be “in Jacob,” is a way of saying “to be part of the people of God.” That means that today’s verse is a tremendous promise. The Redeemer, the One who restores and makes everything right again, will come to those who align themselves with the Lord and who turn from their sins. There is a fresh start and a new beginning for all who turn to the Lord. No matter who you are, no matter what’s happened, the Redeemer is here to help you. Right now!
