Meet our Community Life Services Director of Friendship Village Sunset Hills, Bobbie Liverar! Bobbie will have been with Friendship Village 30 years come October! She started off in food service, where she stayed for 12 years. She began her journey as a server before becoming the dining room manager, and eventually the food service office manager. From there she moved from food service to community life. As the Director of Community Life, Bobbie’s department has grown from 2 to 14 people. “I have a team of amazing people who also show longevity. I have a lot of employees that have been here 5 years or more. We encourage each other, help each other and the most important thing; we respect each other,” Bobbie said. “Upper management has always been incredibly supportive. The fact that this company encourages and is willing to supplement continuing education is amazing. I think I can honestly say this is my home away from home. Over 30 years as you might imagine you build a lot of relationships. The residents are my extended family. I am lucky to get the opportunity to sit down with them one on one.” Bobbie says that if she has one piece of advice to her fellow co-workers it’s this: “Two of my three children have worked here and I have always told them, ‘If you walk through the door one day and you realize you don’t care about the people you’re working for, it’s time to move on.’ What we do is a passion, not just a job – and because of that, it’s a great career.”
