Dear Friends, Residents and Families of Friendship Village:
It’s a cool, but beautiful Saturday at Friendship Villages on this May 9th, 2020.
There is not much to update since yesterday’s report, fortunately. Some Residents are graduating from the Chesterfield COVID Care Center, some are returning from the hospital to recover. Another Resident whose test result was negative for COVID-19. The staff continues to do great work on both campuses. Let us remember to honor our nurses during Nurses Week and our skilled nursing facilities during Nursing Home Week!
Please Don’t Go! But, if you do, we are asking you to self-quarantine.
Since this is Mother’s Day weekend, we anticipate that some Residents will be drawn to leave campus and visit sons and daughters and grandchildren. We highly discourage doing so at this point in time, but we understand the strong desire to do so. We are not in a position to fully prevent anyone from leaving the campus if they insist. However, we will be requiring residents to quarantine for 14 days upon their return. On somewhat frequent occasions, our campuses walk on pins and needles after someone makes contact with a relative who, later, and innocently, begins to show signs and symptoms of COVID-19 and we all hold our breath as we wait to see if our Resident got infected. We have narrowly dodged several bullets, recently, and we want to do everything we can to prevent a forest fire that is very difficult to put out. We are doing well on campus now and we pray for the health and safety of our Residents to continue.
We know it is very difficult and we know that no one likes it, including us, but we believe our practices are helping to prevent the virus from affecting several hundred vulnerable people. We understand the frustration. We appreciate the understanding and cooperation. We will all get through this together. And we’re going to beat this thing and get back to our better lives.
WE THANK YOU FOR YOUR UNDERSTANDING!
No Visitor Policy Still in Full Effect
As many would expect, all of the security and no-visitor policies remain in full effect at all locations as we continue to combat the coronavirus. We appreciate the cooperation and understanding of all involved, Residents and families alike.
Although the State of Missouri has begun lifting some stay at home orders, St. Louis County has not, and neither is Friendship Village. We plan to maintain our measures and vigilance, as we are currently, until a time when we feel there will be an opportunity to safely begin relaxing some of our measures, but that time is not now. Our No-Visitor Policy remains in effect until further notice. We appreciate your continued understanding and cooperation.
Gift-Giving in Appreciation of our Staff is Open on our FriendshipVillageSTL.com website:
It is National Nurses Week and National Nursing Home Week!
Many family members and Residents have inquired as to how to donate a gift of appreciation for the staff for their service during the time of the COVID-19 pandemic. Our website at FriendshipVillageSTL.com now has an easy-to-use tab to use in making contributions for the staff and we thank all of you for considering a gift. As funds are collected, we will identify the best use of those funds in order to do the most that can be done for our employees. Every gift is appreciated, large and small.
As always, all of us thank you all for your continued prayers as we continually ask our Lord Jesus Christ to enable us to do our best to fend-off the COVID-19 coronavirus and to maintain the safety and protection of our Residents and staff.
