Question: If there’s just one thing you’ve had a strong interest in over the years, what would it be?
Answer: “Other than family, I’ve had a lot of hobbies over the years from painting, to working with my hands, through wood working. But above all else, I’ve always been a big reader. I didn’t really like school that much; It was too organized for me and I never went beyond high school, so I’ve educated myself by reading and that’s a never-ending process. I’ve read thousands of books in my life and I continue to read between 80 and 90 books a year. I love history and science, so I read constantly about those things. When I was a kid, I read a lot of science fiction, and I still do read a little bit occasionally. Now I’m interested in everything. When I’m selecting books, it could be politics, economics, science, or history. I want to understand what the world is like today, and what it might be like tomorrow. That fascinates me.” – Phil Zimmerman, resident Friendship Village Chesterfield
