“Rejoice always...” - 1 Thessalonians 5:16
Real joy does not come from simply chasing after whatever we think will make us happy. Happiness does not last when it is merely based either on materialism (owning enough stuff), or events and activities (which come to an end and fade away). More than this, God wants to fill us with a sustaining joy that comes from being in relationships. This kind of joy truly takes hold when our relationship with Him is first and foremost. It sustains us even when everything else is falling apart. As we align with the Lord, there is always reason to rejoice. In the face of whatever is before us, let’s choose true joy.
