Question: Why do you think you were so drawn to automobiles? Answer: “I’m what you’d call a gear head. In high school, I was the guy that fixed your car. I didn’t throw touchdown passes and I didn’t win the literary prize, but I was very well-followed because I was the guy that fixed your car. Cars and motorcycles have been a hobby all my life. I guess it started as a kid, but with the technology of our era, there weren’t electronics. We didn’t have a TV in our […]

Question: Did you like high school? Answer: “That’s a tough one. Academically, it just went by. I met Pat (Pat Weber, George’s wife) and fortunately or unfortunately, it was good and I got a little distracted. So, my grades were average. I didn’t think I was going to go to college and I just lived day to day, I guess. Girls had my full attention and she (Pat) was one of them. She was at the top.”- George Weber, resident Friendship Village Sunset Hills #WeAreFriendshipVillage #retirementcommunity #seniorliving #independentliving #assistedliving #memorycare […]

Question: What do you think made you love arts and crafts? Answer: “I love paper. I’ve enjoyed crafts since I was young, and I always had an endless supply of paper that my dad would bring home from work. It’s a way for me to express myself and it’s fun! It’s also rewarding to make something personalized for someone else. I like to make crafts, cards, and boxes to put treats in and share. I’ve taught some classes here and people have enjoyed them. It involves folding, cutting, pasting, creating […]

Question: What is your favorite season? Answer: “Spring. Because life is coming back to the gardens and everything is blooming so beautifully. I’m a garden person, so I love all the color you have and winter is done and you’re starting a new year. Though I don’t have a garden anymore, I go to a friend’s and do her garden work for her. She was a former neighbor, so I go to see her and keep her garden looking nice.” – Jackie Zeitinger, resident Friendship Village Sunset Hills #WeAreFriendshipVillage #seniorliving […]

Question: What’s your favorite activity to do in your free time and why? Answer: “I knew I wanted to go into medicine, but I also knew that I didn’t want to be in charge of somebody’s life. So, I decided to go into dentistry and graduated in 1961. I didn’t set up a practice because I knew the minute I set up a practice I’d get drafted, so I signed up as an army dentist and spent two years in D.C. I wanted to go overseas but that was during […]

Question: What is your favorite junk food? Answer: “Ted Drewes. I really like their sundaes. And my favorite junk food is anything that’s junk…and chocolate. I’m diabetic, but I can get sugar-free. Question: How did you start writing here at Friendship Village? Answer: “I have been a part of the Welcome Committee here at Friendship Village and when they asked if anyone would be interested in profiling the new residents, I raised my hand and I couldn’t tell you why, but I belong to the writing class now that meets twice a month on Monday. So that’s how I got back into it, but it’s always been something I’ve enjoyed. When I was younger, I had a friend that I moved away […]
